Review della serata di un "hardcore fan"
My first Mike Byrne show (couldn't attend any of the SITS shows or other SP this tour). First time seeing Billy since Lasalle Power Company in Chicago for the North Shore benefit earlier this year.
Very fun show.
Jeff rocked all night (no surprise there)
United States -- it's impossible for this song to NOT rock fucking hard, regardless of who is on drums. New arrangement was fun. Crowd was very into it, which was awesome.
Eye -- very very cool. One of my faves from the 20th anniversary tour. Now another reworking. Love the slow spacy intro.
Gossamer - not gonna say it's as good as 2007 or 2008 versions, but still a killer song, and it's good that they keep rearranging stuff. This is what I came to see.
Owata, Perfect, and That's The Way were all very nice
Billy said that it was almost 22 years ago that SP played their first show at Metro. I yelled "Spiteface!", and Billy said, "yeah, we did play Spiteface", and played the riff briefly. Mike seemed like he wanted to come in on drums but didn't really. Then Billy said "that song sucked anyway". LOL
Blessed Mother was really nice. Great playing by Jeff.
At one point Billy said "let's have Pumpkins request hour... let's see who can stump Jeff". So Billy pointed to different peeps to call out songs. Some awesome person said Jellybelly, but Jeff didn't really play it. Then peeps started yelling for XYU. Billy said "yeah sure... I'm not playing XYU. Go home and watch it on youtube". LOL.
Someone yelled Lucky 13, so Jeff played the riff and Mike did a brief drum beat. But Billy said "we played that last tour".
Billy was tired from flying in from NYC, but he was in a positive mood all night. He definitely restrained himself during the scream in Rat in a Cage.
Clearly Byrne is nowhere near Chamberlin level, so if you come in expecting that, you're just gonna be even more disappointed. He did a respectable job (and many songs awesome job). If you haven't seen SP in Chicago in 1.5 years, you should have had a good time tonight.

Soprattutto fa degli arrangiamenti molto azzeccati :) Mi piace sempre di più! Solo il suono non mi convince pienamente...
